Illumination Schedule

Every evening beginning at dusk, the Falls are lit in the colours of the rainbow – don’t miss the unmatched beauty of the Falls at night! Lighting the Falls allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of the might world wonder even at night. This illumination was first attempted more than 140 years ago in 1860.  About 200 coloured and white calcium, volcanic and torpedo lights called Bengal lights were placed along the banks above and below the American Falls, on the road down the bank of the Canadian side of the gorge and behind the water of the Horseshoe Falls. Today the lighting consists of twenty-one Xenon lights bathing the falls in waves of colours and hues from various vantage points around the horseshoe. Enjoy the amazing sights of the thundering falls illuminated in an array of different colors until midnight most nights of the year however the schedule changes depending on season and weather conditions.
